America's Modern Charm Bracelet: Chamilia's Sterling Silver Starter Bracelet & Bible Bead

Charm bracelets are a wonderful way for women to express our passions, personalities, and treasured memories. But in today's world, many women find traditional charm bracelets to be unpractical, out-dated, or simply aggravating to wear. If you fall into this category know that you are not alone, many women find these aspects to be true myself included. Thankfully jewelry designer Killian Rieder is working to change this by offering practical modern charm bracelets with a broader selection of charms to fit any taste. With over 600 charms to choose from Chamilia charm bracelets can truly be personalized to reflect your personality. Like its predecessor the traditional charm bracelet, Chamilia's charm bracelet is designed to be built overtime, resulting in sentimental bracelet that carries the memories and personal tastes of the wearer.

Starter Bracelet:
Chamilia's “Silver Snap Bracelet” is simple yet stylish with a design that draws attention to the beads making the beads the focal point of your design. The bracelet is hand-crafted from genuine sterling silver and features a snap clasp which blends in with the beads once the bracelet is full, creating a seamless appearance. The bracelet featured in this review is 7 inches in length and is very comfortable to wear. Chamilia offers a broad selection of starter bracelets that includes leather, sterling silver bangles, and standard bracelets in sterling silver or 14k gold with a variety of clasp options that include the traditional lobster claw, toggle, and snap clasps. Each Chamilia bracelet is designed to be practical, and tasteful giving a clean appearance so your beads outshine all other aspects. Prices for starter bracelets begin at $30.00 dollars for leather bracelets, $55.00 for sterling silver and up to $1500 for solid 14k gold bracelets.

Bible Bead:
Chamilia's “Bible Bead” is hand-crafted from genuine sterling silver, and features a simple yet skillfully detailed design. On the front and back of the bead is an oxidized cross. Personally I really like this aspect of the design as it allows the cross to always be visible (the cross is also pointing in the right direction as the bead rotates on the bracelet). Another aspect which I appreciate is the skillfully oxidized pages along the top, side, and bottom of the bead. This aspect really adds a special touch to the design making the bead look like a little Bible. Careful attention to detail and skillfully placed oxidization showcases the designer's skill and attention to detail. Inside each Chamilia bead are internal threads that are threaded onto the bracelet to prevent loss and make putting the bracelet on easier since the threads prevent the beads from falling off the bracelet. Chamilia’s line of beads is an impressive collection that is always growing. Currently the collection offers 600+ beads and includes an exclusive collection of authentic Disney beads that are not available anywhere else. The collection also offers more spiritual designs than other brands with beads that fit a wide range of spiritual backgrounds (which is refreshing to see). Chamilia also supports communities and causes across the globe by introducing limited edition beads and donating a portion of the proceeds to support causes like Breast Cancer, Autism and world peace programs. The price of each bead varies, from $27.00 dollars for simple sterling silver designs, and up to around $399.99 dollars for solid 14k gold charms.

About The Company:
Chamilia was founded in 2002 by Killian Rieder and Jeff Julkowski on the premise of helping women express their personalities through the medium of jewelry. Ms. Rieder, a former designer with fashion icon Polo, designs her line with personalization in mind. Her goal is to allow women to change and customize their jewelry to fit any mood, moment or occasion- the way a chameleon changes its color to match its environment. Chamilia is a privately held, American based company, headquartered in Minneapolis, MN.

About The Designer:
Killian Rieder co-founder and lead designer at Chamilia graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology and worked as a designer with Ralph Lauren Polo. In 2002 she founded Chamilia on the premise that women have a fundamental need to hold onto special friends, family, memories and experiences as well as to express their sense of style. Her desire was to create a way for women to capture the stories and inspiration of their lives through her creations. She chose beads as the channel for that expression. Today, through her vision, Chamilia’s beads are inspired by the lives of the women who wear them. Ms. Rieder has hand drawn the concepts for over 600 unique beads in five years and with her design team, continues to create hundreds of new beads each year. Her success has helped to make Ms. Rieder the only woman at the helm of a custom jewelry design company.
The best part of my work at Chamilia is to see other people’s creations,” says Ms. Rieder . “The beauty of the design comes not just from the beads, but from the meaning associated with them. Every bracelet, necklace and earring takes on meaning for the person who is wearing it.”

Jewelry Care:
Chamilia's silver and gold beads are treated to resist tarnishing, but from time to time they will need a quick touch-up. It is highly recommended that you only use a jewelry polishing cloth for cleaning and polishing your Chamilia jewelry. Never use a liquid silver jewelry polish (or tarnish remover) as it will remove the detailed oxidization from the jewelry. It is also important to take off your jewelry before getting into a hot tub or swimming pool to protect against exposure to harsh chemicals, which can alter the appearance of your Chamilia jewelery.

My Personal Opinion:
As many of you know, I have acquired a passion for modern charm bracelets with only those worthy of taking note getting rave reviews. Chamilia is defiantly note worthy, as the quality shown in both the bead and the bracelet are impressive. A variety of design options is also a fresh change, as I have yet to find any other brand offering so many options on both starter bracelets and beads. While other brands do have impressive collections, Chamilia's collection is set apart because of their broad base of designs that fit any taste. For me what really sets Chamilia's collection above other brands is their spiritual themed beads (which even includes a St. Christopher bead) and their exclusive Disney collection. As a side note I have yet to snag this bracelet, despite wearing it for almost a month, which showcases its practical design. Personally I find this bracelet to comfortable with lots of room for adding more beads. If you have a passion for modern charm jewelry this brand is worth checking into.

Charms with Southern Flare: Purple Turtle Porium's Sterling Silver Possum Charm

Adorable and skillfully detailed this unique possum charm adds southern flare to any design. This charm is crafted from genuine sterling silver with oxidized details. Underneath the charm is stamped 925 indicating the charm's content of pure silver. As with genuine Pandora charms, internal threads located inside of the charm allows it to be twisted onto a variety of European charm bracelets. Although Pandora did not craft this charm it fits on my Pandora bracelet perfectly. When twisting this charm onto to the bracelet it fits exactly the same as my Pandora charm (which is very impressive given the difference in price between the charms). It should be noted that both charms feel like they are the same weight when held in one's palm. This is important as charms that weight more than Pandora's charms could possibly damage your Pandora bracelet. Keep this in mind when purchasing charms that are not crafted by Pandora. The larger faceted bead is a free gift that Purple Turtle Porium sent along with my purchase. This bead is lightweight, yet very reflective adding a welcomed touched of sparkle to my bracelet.

What's a Possum?:

Opossums (commonly referred to as possums) are nocturnal omnivores commonly found in the United States (especially here in the south). Their name originates from the Algonquian word aposoum, meaning "white beast". This unique creature is the largest marsupial in the Western Hemisphere and has more teeth than any other land mammal. According to Wikipedia "Adult opossums do not hang from trees by their tails, as sometimes depicted, though babies may dangle temporarily. Instead, the opossum uses its tail as a brace and a fifth limb when climbing. The tail is occasionally used as a grip to carry bunches of leaves or bedding materials to the nest. A mother will sometimes carry her young upon her back, where they will cling tightly even when she is climbing or running. When threatened or harmed, they will "play possum", mimicking the appearance and smell of a sick or dead animal. When playing possum, the lips are drawn back, teeth are bared, saliva foams around the mouth, and a foul-smelling fluid is secreted from the animal. This response is involuntary, rather than a conscious act. Their stiff, curled form can be prodded, turned over, and even carried away. The animal will regain consciousness after a period of minutes or hours and escape. Opossums also have a remarkably robust immune system, and show partial or total immunity to the venom of rattlesnakes, cottonmouths, and other pit vipers."

About Purple Turtle Porium:
Based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada Ms. Joanne (the artist and mastermind behind Purple Turtle Porium) is committed to providing quality beads that will fit all styles of European charm bracelets. As a Pandora bead collector and a proud mother of two she is particular about the quality and safety of the beads she sells. Ms. Joanne states "I am very particular about the beads that I sell, and they must all pass a rigorous inspection." Purple Turtle Porium's policy is complete customer satisfaction. If for any reason a customer is not satisfied with their purchase a full refund of the purchase price is given. Aside from the cute design of the charm, this policy is what sold me on buying it. There are many online retailers making clams that their beads are compatible with Pandora bracelets, but often times they fail to deliver quality charms. Unlike other shops this one has a policy to keep this from happening.

Personal Opinion:
The quality of this charm is impressive for its price. Unless you are a Pandora Collector it is difficult to tell the difference between the genuine Pandora charm and the charm featured in this review. I am very pleased with my order, and highly recommend Purple Turtle Porium to all my friends. This charm is a wonderful gift for any country girl. For me this charm reminds me that no matter how much I have changed since my childhood, I am still deep down the same country girl that once trapped possums (in non-harmful traps) just for fun.

Where to Buy?:

Little Devil Designs: Sterling Silver Phoenix Charm

 An Original Design
Elegant and inspiring this lovely phoenix charm is a wonderful reminder of inner strength, transformation, and rebirth. Each charm is hand-crafted from .925 sterling silver, and hangs on a sturdy silver jump ring. Measuring 1.25" tall by .5" wide this charm can be worn on a necklace or charm bracelet. All of Little Devil Designs are nickel and lead free and are shipped in a velvet bag to protect from scratches during shipment.

What Makes this Piece Unique:
The quality of this charm is impressive for many reasons: 1. The charm features sturdy craftsmanship and has a nice heavy weight for its size. 2. Excellent details and shading on both sides of the charm, set off  the wings and body of the phoenix (this design is double sided with both sides showcasing excellent details) 3. The charm hangs from a surprisingly thick jump ring. (Which is something that I always appreciate.) 4. Most importantly this charm was hand-crafted by someone who cares about their craft, and uses the medium of silver to release their imagination and creativity.

Meaning of the Phoenix:
Mythical and sacred the phoenix is found in the mythologies of the Persians, Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Chinese. The phoenix symbolizes inner strength, courage, transformation,  rebirth, and immortality. To learn more about the mythology and symbolism of the phoenix check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_(mythology)

My Personal Opinion:
Hand-crafted jewelry has always fascinated me, but until recently I never thought of reviewing a piece of jewelry. After some thought I feel that there is a true need for reviews of hand-crafted jewelry in order to help others choose quality pieces wisely, and know which craftsmen live up to their claims. That said I feel that Little Devil Designs is not only worthy of your time, but worthy of recognition among the blogging community. Such quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail is rare. I recommend this shop to anyone searching for quality hand-crafted jewelry.

Where to Buy?:
Little Devil Designs offers a wide variety of hand-crafted charms and pendents to choose from. Check out their shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleDevilDesigns

Jack Daniel's Spirit of Tennessee Cookbook, Volume 1 By Lynne Tolley and Pat Mitchamore

The rich tradition of southern cooking combined with the distinctive taste of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey gives an interesting view into the heritage of rural American cuisine.  This cuisine is elegantly captured in Jack Daniel's The Spirit of Tennessee Cookbook, which contains more than 350 recipes, stunning full-color photographs, and stories of the people, places, and traditions of Middle Tennessee.

Table of Contents:
   1. Drinks: pages 11-26
   2. Appetizers: pages 27-36
   3. Soups & Salads: pages 37-56
   4. Vegetables: pages 57-78
   5. Breads: pages 79-94
   6. Entrees: pages 95-118
   7. Outdoor Cooking: pages 119-130
   8. Desserts: pages 131-154
   9. Cakes and Pies: pages 155-174
  10. Accompaniments: pages 175-182
  11. Index 183

My Personal Opinion:
As someone is who is severely allergic to gluten, wheat, eggs, chicken, beef, soy, and certain types of fish I am forced to change many of the ingredients to fit my diet. I do enjoy these recipes but I can not say how they taste using the ingredients called for in the book as it has been years since I have tasted many of the ingredients. For example I always substitute flaxseed when eggs are called for in a recipe. A change such as this alters the flavor and texture of the recipe a great deal.  That said I enjoy this cookbook and recommend it to those who love good southern cooking.

Substitutes for allergy suffers:
Below are some ideas for those who have allergies to common ingredients. These are some of the ways I found to make the dishes in this cookbook eatable.
  1. Flaxseed can in be used in most recipes to replace whole eggs, and the use of egg whites. (as long as the dish is not something mainly composed of eggs)
  2. Turkey can be used instead of chicken.
  3. Pork or deer meat can be used to replace beef.
  4. Ground turkey works very well in place of ground beef when making hamburgers.
  5. Gluten/wheat free corn flour can replace other types of floor though this takes a lot of trail and error.
  6. Premixed pancake or bread mixes can replace the use of normal flour. I always use one of the allergy free mixes found at Winn-Dixie as I find it hard to get the substituted ingredients to turn out right on my own.

Clover's Double Pointed Premium Bamboo Knitting Needles -Set of 5- US Size 8 (5.00mm)

High Quality, Durable, and Easy on the Hands!
Every knitter has their own personal preferences for the type of knitting needles they use. If you are an intermediate beginner searching for a set of double pointed knitting needles Clover's bamboo needles are a good choice.  Bamboo knitting needles are easier to learn with because of their unique texture. Due to the texture of bamboo your stitches are also less likely to fall off the needles while you are knitting.

The Pros and Cons:
Different types knitting needles have their own set of pro and cons.  Its recommend that you try different types to find what works best for you, and your individual needs.  Below is a short list of my personal pro and cons, feel free to comment with your own in the comment section.

Pros:
  1. Bamboo's texture makes it easier to control the needles
  2. Tips are not overly sharp making them easier to use.
  3. Less likely to fall out of the stitches while knitting.
  4. Stitches do not easily fall off of the needles.
  5. Wonderfully smooth and warm to the touch.
  6. Light weight (which allows you to knit longer before your hands become tried.)
  7. High Quality with great durability
  8. Bamboo is a natural Echo Friendly product
Cons:
  1. Knitting with bamboo may feel slower to some knitters. This is due to the difference in texture when compared to traditional metal needles.
My Personal Opinion:
For many the thought of knitting in the round with multiple double pointed knitting needles is a nightmare. Before I discovered bamboo knitting needles I was a member of this group.  Due to unavailability in my area, I used to knit with only metal knitting needles.  The problem I found with metal double pointed needles is that either all of my stitches fell off of the needles or the needles would fall out of the stitches (and then the needles would be thrown into a dark corner to be forgotten all eternity). Thanks to Clover's Bamboo knitting needles my view of knitting with multiple needles has changed completely.  Knitting in the round with these needles is so much easier due to the texture of the Bamboo.  A few weeks I knitted a pair of  fingerless gloves using these needles with out any problems. Last night I began working on another set, and found that my knitting speed is picking up as well. I highly recommend this set to all who are having trouble using multiple knitting needles.

Where to Buy?
The set featured in this review is Clover's: Set of  5 double pointed 7"  knitting needles US Size 8 (5.00mm). (Yes I know that is a mouth full, knitting jargon is like that sometimes)

Killing for Sport : Inside the Minds of Serial Killers by Pat Brown

Shocking, compelling and at times deeply disturbing "Killing for Sport" is an eye opening view into the minds of serial killers. Unlike other books on the subject Author/Profiler Pat Brown simplifies the difficult to understand jargon and explains each aspect in common language.  Her book gives the reader a interesting look into the life of a profiler and the world of the serial killer. Throughout her book Ms. Brown makes use of  actual quotes from well known serial killers, which adds to the jaw dropping reality of how incurably sick and dangerous such individuals are.

The Author:

"Pat Brown is a nationally known criminal profiler, television commentator, author, and founder and CEO of The Sexual Homicide Exchange and The Pat Brown Criminal Profiling Agency.  Through The Sexual Homicide Exchange, Ms. Brown offers pro-bono criminal profiling and training for law enforcement. She also provides profiling consultation to attorneys, families, and producers through The Pat Brown Criminal Profiling Agency. Ms. Brown holds a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University and she developed the first Criminal Profiling and Investigative Analysis certificate program in the country for Excelsior College. She is the founder and director of The Society for Investigative Criminal Profiling, an organization working to promote criminal profiling as a major tool in police investigations. Ms.Brown has provided crime commentary, profiling and forensic analysis in over one thousand television and radio appearances in the United States and globally.  She contributed to special feature content included in the 2005 home DVD edition of Profiler: Season Two and the 15th Anniversary Edition, 2006 DVD release of Quentin Tarantino's crime classic, Reservoir Dogs.

References:

My Personal Opinion:
Ms. Brown's "no non-since" approach to explaining the mind of the serial killer is both refreshing and astounding. Where other authors beat about the brush, leaving the reader wondering what the author really implied, Ms. Brown boldly reaches out to the reader in plain English.  Ms. Brown is very point blank in her presentation, while adding a refreshing touch of humor.  This book is a great read for all who wonder how serial killers think.  I recommend this book, but due to the nature of this topic reader discretion is advised.

My Personal Opinion:
Both unique and compelling Janice Daugharty presents her plot with passion and finesse. Her characters, and events are portrayed in realistic form. The Catholic Comparative New Testament by Oxford University Press

Overview:
The Catholic Comparative New Testament features eight Catholic translations of the New Testaments in one convenient volume. Comparing translations is a simple task with this edition, due to its side-by-side layout. This edition contains four formal equivalent translations - the Douay-Rheims, the Revised Standard Version Catholic Bible, the New Revised Standard Version Catholic Bible, and the New American Bible. These translations are referred to as "word-for-word" translations due to the fact that great care was taken during translation, to render the original wording of the New Testament into English.  This edition also contains four functional equivalent translations - The Jerusalem Bible, the Good News Bible, the New Jerusalem Bible, and the Christian Community Bible. These translations are referred to as "thought-for-thought" translations. The purpose of these translations is to emphasize on the intended meaning of the original text, and adapt its meaning in English syntax and grammar, making it easier to understand.

"A wide spectrum of people - including new and experienced Bible readers, homilists, and teachers - will gain from having this resource on their bookshelves." - Catechetical Leadership

The Binding and Cover:
The cover of this edition is a traditional hard backed cover, which offers durability at an economical price. This edition’s binding is sewn and glued adding stability, and durably.
Dimensions: 9.1 x 6.3 x 1.8 inches

What’s inside?
The layout of this edition helps readers to compare verses at a glance, making verse comparison a simple task.  Four translations are laid out on each page allowing for quick cross-referencing as well.  This edition features an easy-to-read typeface, paragraph/subject headings, and helpful information about each of the translations. The paper used in this edition is thin, yet very high quality. There is a fair amount of ghosting (seeing the text that is printed on other side of the page), but this does not interfere with readability.

The Translations:
All of the translations in the Catholic Comparative New Testament have the Imprimatur showing the Church's approval of these translations. Below is a brief description of each translation.

New American Bible:
  • The New American Bible (NAB) is the official Catholic translation approved for both Lectionary, and private use in the Untied States for Public.  Most recent editions of the NAB contain the 1970 Old Testament, 1991 Psalter, and 1986 New Testament. While this translation is the translation we hear every week during Mass, you will notice small differences.  Inclusive language that appears in controversial places has been replaced in the Lectionary, so that no inclusive language is used during Mass. At this time the inclusive language still remains in all other editions of this translation. For more information check out http://www.usccb.org/nab/bible/index.shtml
Revised Standard Version - Catholic Edition
  • The Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (RSV-CE) is an adaptation of the Protestant Revised Standard Version (RSV) for use by Catholics. This translation is widely used by conservative Catholic scholars and theologians, and is accepted as one of the most accurate and literary Bible translations.
Douay-Rheims
  • The Douay-Rheims (D-R) is an English translation of the Bible translated from the Latin Vulgate by members of the English College, in Douai. The New Testament was published in Reims, France in 1582. This translation was updated by a revision undertaken by Bishop Richard Challoner in 1752. Bishop Challoner's revision of the Douay-Rheims Bible, added readably and poetic rhythm to the translation. The King James Version was used as its base text, which Bishop Challoner rigorously checked with the Clementine edition of the Latin Vulgate.  "Although the Jerusalem Bible, New American Bible (in the United States), the Revised Standard Version, the New Revised Standard Version and the New Jerusalem Bible are the most commonly used in English-speaking Catholic churches, the Challoner revision of the Douay-Rheims is still often the Bible of choice of English-speaking Traditionalist Catholics.
New Revised Standard Version - Catholic Edition
  • The New Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition (NRSV-CE) is an edition of the NRSV adapted for the use of Catholics with the approval of the Catholic Church In accordance with the Code of Canon Law  825.1, the New Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition, has the imprimatur  of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops (USA) and the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops granted on 12 September 1991 and 15 October 1991 respectively. The NRSV-CE is one of the versions of the Bible used in English editions of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Jerusalem Bible
  • The Jerusalem Bible (JB or TJB) is a Roman Catholic translation of the Bible which first was introduced to the English-speaking public in 1966 and published by Darton, Longman & Todd. As a Roman Catholic Bible, it includes the deuterocanonical books along with the sixty-six others included in Protestant Bibles, as well as copious footnotes and introductions. In 1943 Pope Pius XII issued an encyclical letter, Divino Afflante Spiritu, which encouraged Roman Catholics to translate the Scriptures from the original Hebrew and Greek, rather than from Jerome's Latin Vulgate.
New Jerusalem Bible
  • The New Jerusalem Bible (NJB) is a Catholic translation of the Bible published in 1985 and edited by The Reverend Henry Wansbrough, O.S.B., monk of Ampleforth Abbey in North Yorkshire and former Master of St Benet's Hall, Oxford. Like its predecessor, the Jerusalem Bible, this version is translated directly from the Hebrew, Greek or Aramaic.
Good News Translation- Catholic Edition
  • The Good News Translation (GNT), is an English translation by the American Bible Society. This translation has been endorsed by many Christians Churches such as the Catholic Church, the Southern Baptist Convention, the Lutheran Church, Episcopal Church, and the Presbyterian Church. Excerpts from the New Testament were used extensively in evangelistic campaigns, such as the Billy Graham crusades and others, from the late 1960s through to the early 1980s. In the Philippines, the GNT is the most popular version of the Bible for both Catholics and Protestants. The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines used this translation for the English version of their Basic Ecclesial Community Bible.
Christian Community Bible
  • The Christian Community Bible was published in1986 as an answer to Rev. Alberto Rossa (a Claretian missionary in the Philippines) need for an English version of the Bible that reaches out to ordinary readers, particularly those in Third World countries. The primary feature of this translations is its use of common English. Editors of the Christian Community Bible consider it to be a very accurate translation from the Hebrew and Greek biblical texts.

My Personal Opinion:
The Catholic Comparative New Testament is one of my favorite tools for studying God's Word.  Eight Catholic translations placed side by side, makes comparing translations quick and easy. As someone who enjoys comparing translations, I have to say that this edition is the most helpful Catholic tool I have had the pleasure to review. I highly recommend this edition.

About this Translation
The translation used in this edition is the Updated New American Standard Version. The New American Standard Bible (NASB) is a revision of the 1911 American Standard Version. The American Standard Version is a reversion of the King James Version. Many view the New American Standard Bible as one of the most literal translations of the 20th-century. Since its completion in 1971, the New American Standard Bible has been widely embraced by many as “the most literally accurate English translation” from the original languages. In 1995, the Lockman Foundation reissued the NASB text as the NASB Updated Edition (or more often known, the Updated NASB or NASB95). Since then, it has become known simply as the "NASB" and has replaced the 1971 text in most current printings (although the Thompson Chain Reference Bibles, the Open Bibles, and the Key Word Study Bibles use the 1977 text for their NASB editions).

My Personal Opinion:
The quality of this Bible is excellent for an economical edition; the binding is sturdier than many other giant-print editions, and the text is a large, clear size making this edition easier to read. To test the readability of this edition I asked my friends and family for feedback. My mother found this edition to be very readable and a pleasure to use.

Information About Floto:
The Floto Borsa Collection was launch in 2003 by Joe Floto with the philosophy "that older is better". Their company mission is to refine old-world craft methods to produce high quality pieces that are superior to mass-produced luggage. Floto uses top grade Italian calfskin and natural high quality fabrics exclusively. Each piece is a handcrafted original work complete with distinctive hardware and finishing. Floto products are built to last by skilled Italian artisans, providing old- world quality. Unlike mass-produced luggage, Floto's luggage, bag and briefcases, look better with age. The wear that happens over time such as wear marks and worn seams create an even more attractive look.

Floto's Founder Jeo Floto:
When Joe Floto went to Italy in 1997 he bought a leather duffel bag from a craftsman in Tuscany and has been using it for his travels ever since. Over the years he noticed two things about the bag - it looks better as it ages and people always ask about it - where did you get that bag? How much was it? I love that bag.

In 2002 Joe Floto left a job on Wall Street and took a sabbatical in Rome. Determined to try something new and creative he returned to New York in 2003 and started Floto Imports to design and make affordable, yet high-end leather luggage and bags.

With a mission to update timeless designs and stick with old-world craft methods the Floto brand quickly gained popularity on the internet and within the first 8 months had attracted buyers like Chelsea Clinton, David Letterman and Walt Disney Corporation.

"The best thing about this collection,” according to Floto, “is each piece is really well-made and good looking, it’s what I call Equestica - equestrian, vintage nautical, and fun at the same time -- and more importantly it's available at an affordable price.”

My Personal Opinion:
The quality and craftsmanship are impressive. Each aspect is well made, sturdy, durable and stylish. These qualities are no longer common place in a market of mass-produced products. Floto Imports attention to detail and care in selecting quality materials is refreshing. The materials chosen for the Poste messenger bag showcase Floto’s passion for quality and desire to craft products that will last a lifetime. Finding a messenger bag that is practical, functional, durable and stylish is a difficult task, yet the Poste messenger bag not only meets these requirements, it exceeds my expectations for practicality and durability.

New King James Version Ultra-Thin Pitt Minion Reference Edition In Black Goatskin: Published by Cambridge University Press

The New King James Version Pitt Minion reference edition is an ultra-thin, hand-sized Bible that offers many of the helpful features found in a full sized reference edition while remaining travel friendly. Widely admired for it's ultra-thin form, good readability, and elegant design the Pitt Minion format is one of the most popular editions published by Cambridge University Press.
Traditional art-gilt page edges, a matching red ribbon marker, and a cover bound in superb quality black Goatskin, gives this edition an elegant appearance reminiscent of the classic compact Bibles of the 1900's.

About The Binding & Cover:
The cover of this edition is crafted from superb quality Goatskin leather. Fresh out of the box, the cover of this edition is supple, and flexible. The grain of the leather is excellent with well-defined texture and rich color. Goatskin (Genuine Moroccan leather) is thin, durable leather that will with stand many years of use. Over time the leather will grow more supple and flexible which many search for in high quality Bibles. The Smythe sewn binding of this edition is impressive. Unlike many hand-sized Bibles on the market the NKJV Pitt Minion Goatskin edition lays flat when opened on a table or in your hand. It is very rare to find a hand-sized Bible that will remain open hands free. Smythe sewn binding is considered the highest quality of book binding methods, the pages are sewn and glued to the spine resulting in a very durable binding. Bibles with Smythe sewn bindings can be read and reread for years without falling apart. Smythe sewn Bibles will with stand more abuse than those with glued bindings. Smythe sewn book printing and binding gets its name from its inventor, an Irish-American named David McConnell Smythe (1833-1807) Size: 4.75 x 6.875 inches. Spine width: 3/4 inches.

What’s inside?
The NKJV Pitt Minion offers many helpful features often found in full sized reference editions. Features Include: A detailed center column cross reference system for finding related verses, fifteen detailed color maps, a map index for finding certain locations, an eighty one page concordance and paragraph/subject headings within the text. This Bible is a red-letter edition (the word's of Christ are in red) printed in double column format. Unlike many red-letter editions the red text found in the Pitt Minion is easy on the eyes. The text size is 6.75 on 7pt lexicon No.1. The typeface used in this edition makes it one of the most readable compact Bibles I have used. Unlike many compact Bibles the wording in this edition does not feel crammed together making the text clear and very readable. The paper is opaque and thin yet the bleed-through is faint, and not pronounced enough to be distracting. This edition is printed in the Netherlands on Indian paper that gives a true since of quality and craftsmanship.

One hundred and thirty respected Bible scholars, church leaders, and lay Christians worked for seven years to create this translation. Their goal is a completely new, modern translation of Scripture that retains the purity and stylistic beauty of the original King James Version.

Cambridge University Press is committed to the highest standards of printing and binding. Each Cambridge Bible is skillfully made from the finest materials. My Personal Opinion:
The quality and craftsmanship of this edition is impressive, I admire the skill that went into it's making. It's fine Goatskin cover is simply beautiful and a delight to hold. Fresh out of the box this edition is flexible and molds to fit your hand (a quality which is highly sought after in leather bound Bibles). When compared to my other compact Bibles the Smyth sewn binding of this edition lays flatter than any other compact edition. Unlike many compact Bibles this edition stays open with out having to hold your place. It can even be read on a table and still remain open, which is very impressive. The quality of the paper is surprisingly strong, this is one of the few ultra-thin Bibles that I feel comfortable flipping through it's pages. I have always been drawn to compact Bibles since they can be carried with ease and read anywhere. The size of the Pitt Minion size is prefect for this task because of it's lit weight and ultra-thin design. Despite its small size the text of this edition is very readable. Unlike most compacts I can read several chapters with out eyestrain. Through if you plan to study in depth I would recommend an edition with larger print. But for lit reading this edition is perfect.

This edition has became one of my primary Bibles for lit study and devotional reading because of its quality, durability and craftsmanship. If you are looking for an ultra-thin Bible that will with stand years of daily use I recommend this edition. The price is four times the cost of mass-produced editions, but it's worth the cost because this Bible is built to last a lifetime.
